The SandBox was designed as a versatile and comprehensive connectivity solution for a wide variety of the Ethernet protocols commonly used in stage, studio, and architectural lighting systems. This highly portable and rugged package enables DMX-over-Ethernet input and output for the majority of today’s lighting control systems, show controllers, and visualizers.
The DMX ports are bi-directional for maximum flexibility so that any port, independent of the XLR connector gender, can be configured as an input or output. The SandBox supports 10BaseT and 100BaseT for unparalleled throughput and easy integration with any network topology. Auto MDI/MDI-X eliminates the need to worry about straight vs. cross-over cabling. Optional Power over Ethernet provides effortless power to the unit via PoE switches or mid-span injectors. An external wall-wart style power supply may be used when PoE is unavailable.
SandBoxes are easily configured and managed with the free Sand Device Browser utility or with any other SandNet software application. A factory default button provides a convenient configuration starting point for the novice user. SandBoxes also support firmware uploads over Ethernet to accommodate the rapidly evolving world of entertainment networks.

Note that legacy protocols such as AVAB IPX/UDP, Color-Net, Compulite, ETCNet2/Net3, HDL-Net, Hydra-Net, Pathport, SA-Net, SandNet, & Strand ShowNet, as well as ACN E1.17, might not be implemented to support all possible configurations and use scenarios. Use of a legacy protocol on one port may preclude the use of an alternate protocol on the other port. More information regarding protocol support can be found in the user manual. Contact SAND Network Systems before you purchase a SandBox for use with these protocols to ensure that it will work as intended in your particular application.
